Renewable energy sector to create whopping 24 lakh jobs in India by 2020

Seems, hiring in renewable energy sector is going to scale new heights in India. According to latest report generated by a non-governmental environmental organization Greenpeace, titled ‘Indian Energy [R]evolution’, India has the potential to create 24 lakh jobs by 2020.

It is reportedly said that the potential of renewable energy domains for generating jobs is two to three times more, against conventional energy domains including coal, oil etc. To the reader’s surprise, the number of jobs is expected to jump to 14 times by 2030, if Energy [R]evolution pathway is followed.

Presently, India's renewable energy industry has employed around two lakh people.

According to Sven Teske, Senior Energy Expert from Greenpeace International, “With consistent and long term renewable energy policy framework, India can build up a local renewable energy industry with an annual turnover of more than INR 54,000 crore, creating up to 24 lakh jobs by 2020".

Replying to a query regarding the investments in the new renewable power plants, Teske further added, “The investment will lead to fuel cost savings paying back the overall investments between now and 2050 two times over. It is a win-win strategy for India to combine security of energy supply and job creation".

Seems, coming years are going to be aggressive on recruitments; a good news for job seekers.
