Technology Center to generate 2,500 jobs ZF India


The German auto component major ZF Friedrichshafen AG has announced that it will inaugurate its first Indian R&D centre on January 1, 2017, in Hyderabad. The ZF India Technology Center is estimated to generate 2,500 jobs by 2020.

The tech center will be focusing on software and mechanical engineering. In addition to aiding the local product development, the upcoming facility will also sport ZF’s global operations.Speaking about the new R&D centre, Stefan Sommer, CEO of ZF Friedrichshafen AG, says that demand for software engineering in the auto component sector is growing and the company will increase its capacity in this sub-segment exponentially.

ZF’s global R&D network consists of more than 100 development locations including 17 primary development locations. Over 13,800 employees are working in the German firm’s research and development division.ZF has been operating in India for the last three decades and has made significant investments in the country. In addition to the Pune facility, the company also has a 50:50 JV named ZF Hero Chassis Systems (in association with Hero Motors Ltd.) in Oragadam near Chennai.

The Indian operations of the auto comp maker currently involve 12,000 employees. The local Technology Center will help the brand come up with products that are suitable for the local market.
