August 4 (SeeNews) - Indian wind turbine maker Suzlon (BOM:532667) said Thursday it has secured work on wind projects with a combined capacity of 75.6 MW at home from April to July 2016.
The turnkey deals came from a number of public sector undertakings (PSUs) and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) from the domestic food, textiles, chemical, real estate, entertainment and manufacturing industry segments. Some 80% of the customers have already purchased turbines from the firm, it pointed out.
The new contracts call for the company to build, commission and provide dedicated life cycle asset management services for all of the wind parks. For them it will deliver and erect 36 units of three types of its 2.1-MW turbine models -- namely the S111 90m tubular tower, S97 120m hybrid tower and the S97 90m tubular tower -- across the states of Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh.
Competition is due in March 2017, according to the statement. Once up and running, the wind parks are expected to be able to generate enough electricity to power some 40,000 local household annually and offset approximately 160,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions each year.
Suzlon received 42 MW of the orders during the first quarter of fiscal 2016/17, while the rest were secured in July. The value of the contracts was not disclosed.
